About the service
HygieneRatings is a free, independent tool for searching UK food hygiene ratings. The ratings come from the Food Standards Agency. We are not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the FSA, Food Standards Scotland or any local authority, and we do not set, change or influence any rating.
The data and its accuracy
We present the official data as faithfully as we can. A rating changes only when a business is re-inspected, and the published record can lag behind, so a rating shown here may not reflect a very recent inspection. For the authoritative record, always check the official FSA ratings search. We give no guarantee that the information is complete, current or free of error.
Use of the data
The rating data is published by the Food Standards Agency under the Open Government Licence. This site contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
Acceptable use
Use HygieneRatings for whatever you need, at home or at work. Checking your own business, a supplier, or somewhere you are about to eat are all things it is built for, and we do not distinguish between them.
Do not use it unlawfully, and please do not put it under automated load heavy enough to affect other people. If you want the data in bulk, take it from the FSA rather than scraping it here. Their copy is published for that purpose and is more current than our nightly one. We may restrict access if the site is being misused.
Our content
The site's design, layout, writing and the comparisons we build from the data are ours unless stated otherwise. The ratings themselves are not. They belong to their original sources and are used under the Open Government Licence, so you are free to reuse them yourself on the same terms.
No warranties
HygieneRatings is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that the site will be uninterrupted, secure or free of error.
Limitation of liability
The site and its information are provided free of charge. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the site or the information shown here, so always confirm important details with the business or the FSA. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded under the law.

HygieneRatings links to external sites, such as the FSA. We are not responsible for their content or practices, and a link is not an endorsement.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute relating to them is subject to the courts of England and Wales.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page is the current one, and continuing to use the site means you accept it.
